OUR STORY

MISSION:

There was or there was not

This story is set in the past not too distant from the present day.  There was a baby born to a loving family in Montreal.  Upon this boy’s first anniversary, he became thirsty to learn more about his Arabic heritage but alas there existed no stories for this boy to listen to.  This situation inspired the creation of our group determined to quench this thirst for learning about the Arabic culture.  For this child and all the children that have been deprived this opportunity, it was the beginning of a new discovery.

In 2003, we formed a group of diversely talented individuals convened in a little coffee store to discuss what we could do to fill this gap.  We began a long journey of story collecting, researching, learning, training and producing. We expanded to include puppet shows and storybook making and performed in libraries, at festivals, university frosh and at local coffee houses.

Today our group constitutes an even greater diversity of talented individuals working together to expose the positive aspects of the Arabic culture to North American communities. We focus on story telling without being limited to simply telling a story but also by including many methods of relaying these stories.  We set our imagination free and we hope to provoke yours!

ABOUT THE LOGO:

The logo illustrates the letter "N" in Arabic, pronounced: Noon. It is a very strong symbol in Arabic, that it was mentioned in the Holy Quran at the beginning of a Surah (or chapter)  AL-Qalam (the pen).

The symbol "Noon" (ن ) also indicates in Arabic as the ink pot and the drop of ink that resembles continuous learning. therefore, Noon is our way of saying, we will be forever learning.
